ECU failure and subsequent electronic issues

Featured Replies

2011 Sept registered 1.8TSi Elegance estate. Driving rain in October. catastrophic failure of ECU (EPC light on and won't start). RAC took car to Lookers. New ECU needed. No ECU available in UK. Rental car for 8 days (Seat Leon and Vauxhall Insignia - neither any good).

Car returned, memory seat no longer working. Cruise no longer working. Car taken back to Lookers. Memeory seat "fixed" but actually not working. Cruise "fixed" but again not working. Back to Lookers. This time, agreed that seat wasn't working and replaced all motors and seat base. Cruise "fixed:. Cruise not working. Back to Lookers. Chief Tech runs diagnostic and assures me that cruise has nothing wrong but replaced stalk anyway. Cruise not working! so took technician for test drive on M60. Cruise not working. Tech now agrees. Baffled!. contacts Skoda UK and sends copy of diagnostics. Skoda UK say "cruise should work". But it doesn't. Now waiting for another slot so Lookers can keep the car until they and Skoda figure out what's wrong. They will lend me something decent this time. Then we will see. My guess? It will need another new ECU. will update when we know more.

Apart from the electronics and the time spent at Lookers, car is great and will fit a small horse in the back!!

Anybody else with dodgy electronics on their Superbs? :wall:
