Cut wire to sidelight bulb by mistake!

Featured Replies

Sound guys, help please!

While changing the sidelight bulb to my mk2 vrs i have managed to cut 1 of the electrical wires to the sidelight bulb holder. How do i go about repairing this as the bulb failure lamp on the dash is irritating me. Do i solder the 2 ends or what?

Cheers

I would solder and crimp to be sure.

Solder the two ends, but put some heatshrink tubing over the joint so it doesn't short out to anything else.

Hiya mate, I would tidy the two ends up on the wire and strip back enough insulation. Get some heatshrink big enough to fit over some crimps/ a crimp. Crimp the two wires together with a crimp but make sure the heatshrink is already loose over one of the cables ready to use once you've done the crimping. Heat the heatshrink carefully. This will insulate your cable and crimp assembly and stop any shorts.
