Looking at a few mods... Worth it or not?

Featured Replies

New to the 1.8t but see a lot of fancy performance parts for sale

Would just like to know whats worth it without spending a bucket?

1. Silicone TIP?

2. Forge turbo hoses?

3. Coil pack hold down clamps?

Cheers any more worthwhile mods would be much appreciated, only after things that would actually benefit performance and running of the car

Cheers

(p.s already purchased forge 007p and piperx vis)

no no an no there not needed

bur hoses and tip look good

best mods for these cars is suspension and brake upgrade

The TIP is a lot of money for something that only makes marginal difference and really needs a custom map to take full advantage of it.

Again same for turbo hoses, unless its running high boost or you're worried about the standard hoses splitting then the silicon ones are just a bit of bling.

Hold down clamps are only worth it if you're having problems with your coil packs popping up which again usually happens after a remap or if the plugs aren't gapped properly, you can also make your own coil pack hold downs:

IMO the best mods in terms of good performance gain for little money spent are remap and rear ARB. Cupra brakes if you can afford them.

Cheers guys so basically pointless bling?

I might just get a remap and the coil plug hold down brackets, and maybe an fmic and leave it at that then

:)

..or just leave it.

pointless bling

tbh you would be better off spending money on removing the sai and associated vacuum tubing stuff (N249 and N112?) and getting some silicone breather pipes. Then remap to solve CEL light.

Other than that, suspension/arbs, general servicing, tyres, then brakes (if you feel the need) would be the order I'd take.

..or just leave it.

Couldnt leave it at 180bhp im afraid.... :o

Agree with folks, what you have listed as performance parts is really more bling. However I find Coil plug Hold down brackets useful, because my coils pop up. Also silicon hoses do have a more realiable purpose for mapped cars.

Bling has it's place but not as a performance gain.
