Traffic Jam boredom's left me with a Phone problem!

Featured Replies

Sat in a big jam in the cage so started playing with the setups.............. being an Apple user my phone doesn't play with my 58, but I thought I'd search for phones near me. Caught the girl in front's Nokia and stupidly tried to connect just for the crack........... now whenever I get in the car it's looking for a paired phone!

My own fault, but does anyone know how I can disable the automated Bluetooth pair attempt??

Try settings, general, open bluetooth by touching it and you should get a list of paired devices, touch on the one you want rid of then touch the button

" forget this device"

Hope that helps

I don't have anything like that in Settings / Setup - can just search for devices or make an SOS call? (under Phone)

Is the phone an iPhone?

Yep mine is, and doesn't support rSAP - no big shakes. I stupidly tried to connect the car to the traffic jam girl's Nokia, which it wanted to as it gave me a code to enter into her handset :-)

Since then, whenever I hop in I get a message saying it can't find a paired phone.........doesn't seem to be any way of unpairing. Only one button to cancel but it's bugging me

Maybe if I get somebody elses phone and pair it then I'll see options to remove all pairings?

sounds like you need to change your bluetooth box under your seat. then you will be able to use any phone you want .

If you want to delete a pairing, you 1st need to have a phone paired to access this part of the menu! - i know, stupid right?!

If i was you, do what i did, and change the box under the seat - you'll be able to connect your iPhone then, along with every other bluetooth phone on the market!

I would expect that resetting the entire unit to factory settings would see you through this..?

Doubt it, as the info is stored in the Bluetooth Box, not in the Columbus head unit...

What you've said makes sense - I'll borrow another blower, pair it and then delete!

So how much for the box swap? Can you tell me what functionality you get from the iPhone?

Thanks.......Sam

The iPhone works via GSMIII rather than rSAP. You don't get the use of the roof antenna but things like caller lists and the phone book all come up on the maxidot. It's a bit like an old Skool hands free system where the phone still physically makes the calls. rSAP basically transfers everything over to the car which actually makes the calls.

You can also stream audio via Bluetooth from the music player to the Columbus.

It works pretty well to be honest.

^^^^ What he said!

To add to this, about £100 on eBay - Look for the thread on this forum started by me - it's about 8 or 9 pages long now, and photo's etc too.

Hi all,

Slightly different phone problem but I'm hoping someone can help. My Samsung Gallaxy S connects fine from day one to the Columbus system, but gives the message "phone book incomplete" every time. I've approx 250 contacts in my phone so it shouldn't be information overload? Any ideas?

Thanks.

Are you connected to rSAP with your S?

If you are, maybe it's reading the Sim card contacts only, and not the phone?

(Before people say it, my Windows phone, a HTC, when connected to rSAP also synced what was on the phone too)

So, this is just a guess - I've never used an S before.

Maybe it's worth a try connecting the phone via HFP only (If you car is late 2010 ('11 model year) or onwards!)

I have over 900 contacts in my phone, all for business, and they are all synced (iPhone 4s, 2010 superb but replaced the box)

Thanks Al.

I'm connecting with my S.

My car was delivered just two weeks ago so it is definitely a late 2011 model.

I have to display my ignorance now and ask how do I go about connecting via HFP only?

Sorry in advance if that is a really stupid question!

Should be settings in your phone for Bluetooth profiles - my BB and HTC devices allowed for Sim Access profile to be enabled or disabled.

Al.

Thanks Al.
