Superb 17" Spare Wheel

Featured Replies

Hi i am after some advice. My recently purchased Superb has 225.45.17 tyres on but the spare tyre is only a 16" wheel. I have been trawling the net for a 17" steel wheel for a spare but can't find one. Can anyone advise me if it is possible to buy a 17" steel rim for this car. If so where from ?

Spare is "only" 16in because it is 205 width (or sometimes 195) tyre. 225/45/R17 tyres would lift the boot floor up about 10mm-15mm, and all things in the boot would effectively rest on the wheel unless some extra spacers are put around spare wheel well to raise the boot floor.

You can get any wheel, steel or alloy in that well, alloy wheels just need the center Skoda logo to be taken out (it clips inside, just push it outwards). But as long as your spare has 225 width tyre you will have a problem with boot floor resting mostly on the wheel.

I drive often to Europe, and for this reason (and comfort) I went for 205/55/R16 wheels all round and specified alloy spare wheel/tyre exactly same as rest of wheels on the car.

My problem is the car is going to be used as a Taxi so it needs to be same size as the rest. Probably looks like i might have to go for a set of 16's.

If you want to sell your 17s give me a shout as I need to get mine refurbed so want a spare set to go on in the meantime. I'll store them with winter tyres after the refurb
