I'm looking at ordering a fabia as a second car, probably an elegance hatch with either 90 or 105 1.6tdi engine in. Firstly, any advice on the engines, I'm looking for economy on our local a-roads to offset the thirsty vrs(octavia tsi). I haven't tested either engine yet, but probably the 105, as the last diesel I've just got rid of was an octavia vrs.

I'm undecided on colours???? I love the monte, but not the black arches and skirts...So this leads me to my next question; what's a black pack I keep seeing mentioned?

Any must have on the spec, I'm thinking-

3 Spoke Multi-function wheel

Full size spare

Sunset Glass

Storage under both seats

Sports suspension

3rd Headrest

Agreed, the arches & skirts look naff to me too.

I saw a black Monte in a dealership in Liverpool and I must say, it looked fantastic ! (bar the 4x4 look)

The colour made the arches and skirt 'vanish' and it had black gigaros as well. VERY nice.

If I had to choose a colour again (something that was out of my hands) no doubt, it would be black.

Cruise control and Climatronic are an absolute must in my eyes.

Black Pack is/was an extra to have blacked out lights and front grill on the vRS which the Monte Carlo has. This was only when the vRS was available with Chrome lights and a Chrome front grill. These are no-longer availble it would appear on the vrs models.
