My Greenline order

Featured Replies

I thought I should start a thread on my order as I can update it as it progresses. I'm impressed with the helpful community and how positive everyone is, very similar to the M5 forum I use :)

I'm coming from a BMW M5 (E39) to a Superb Greenline 1.6 CR. It appears to be quite a step down engine wise from a 5.0 V8 Petrol with 400bhp to a 1.6 4-pot Diesel with 105PS. But actually I found the Greenline is fine for normal driving and only falls short when overtaking, which I seem to do less and less.

I picked an Elegance Hatchback so I could take advatage of the VAT and Finance deal. Most days I prefer the look of the estate but I cannot justify the price difference.

I visited my local dealer who were very helpful but ultimatley unable to get near the Drive the Deal or Autoebid prices and the difference was great enough that I had to go elsewhere. I ended up with Preston Motors in London and paid a little more that I could have got it for but they included an extra years warranty, the spare wheel and mudflaps and I found Lee (the salesman) very helpful.

Specification is as follows

Superb Elegance Hatchback/Twindoor Greenline II

Heated Washer Jets

Floor Mats

Auto dim mirror

Park Assist

KESSY

Rear heated seats

Side blinds

Hill Hold Control

Mudflaps

Spare wheel

4 year warranty

I do like the Ivory but as I plan to keep the car for the foreseeable future and there will be kids and various cargo in it in the future, I am concerned on needing to keep it clean so would prefer the black. That leads to a lighter exterior colour like the Cappuccino, Grey or White.

I'm thinking of the Cappuccino or Grey but our other car is Grey so maybe I should be brave and get the White? Are there any options which are worthwhile that I have overlooked? And has anyone picked White and later regretted it, or picked another colour and wished they had White?

I ordered on Saturday (3rd March) but I believe the order was processed on Monday (5th March). Currently delivery is expected at the end of May or beginning of June. Would love it to be ready for our holiday on 11th May but I think thats unlikely.

Much appreciated Scott - I believe we both got a good deal in the end.

From a personal point of view, and I do not wish to cause an argument with this, I would go for a metallic, purely for the resale value further down the line.

I've been going through all the colours again last night to try and decide. I found a very nice blue but then so many of the photos take advantage of additional lighting from flashes so is not an accurate representation of how the car will look. The Cappuccino looks better in real life than in any photo I've seen and the Blue's seem to be the reverse.

I'd like to pick something interesting and I'm finding it far harder than I think I should.

I've got a Petrol Blue Twindoor here at the moment, I'll get some pics and email them over.

On the thoughts of colour, as I said earlier I would think of the resale value of a white one, darker colours do look nice (petrol and storm blue) BUT they do show up the scratches more. For some reason Skoda still prime their cars in white or light grey, hence the reason for scratches showing easier.

We've got a bit of time on colour, just giving you some input.

Pics would great. Scratches and dents were one of the reasons for thinking about white but I would prefer a more interesting colour.

Appreciate the assistance Lee as you see alot more of them than I do and can see first hand what looks good.

Was informed today that I have a provissional build slot for week 16. Its still subject to change but if all goes well then delivery will be in May :)

Build week 16 has been confirmed today. I'm hoping it can be delivered within 3 weeks from this build date.

I ordered a Greenline Elegance at the end of Feb and the initial delivery estimate was beginning of June. However, I've just been informed that it'll now be the beginning of May. Looks like things are moving along nicely.

Is that for actual delivery to you? Do you have a firm date yet for delivery or is it still an estimate?

Actually I'm going to give the dealer a call because the details given were somewhat short and ambiguous. But I think the date meant delivery to me.

Built and at the port ready for shipping. Told it should be a couple of weeks but could be a little sooner/later.

So 6 weeks 3 days from ordering to arrival at port or 6 weeks exactly from processing of order to completion of build (I think). Very good indeed :)

Mine was at the port for shipping on the 2nd April and it was delivered to the dealer on the 13th April and I collected it today. Take into account Easter so it was not too bad.

Pickup should be around midday tomorrow. Hopefully will get some pictures up when I get home.
