Spent hours today looking for a switched live for the interior lights without any luck, in the end I put a multi meter to the connections and found 2 permanent lives! Is it that there's a switched earth instead? Any idea where I can find a switched live?

On another note when dismantling the interior light the light fell apart in my hand! As I have a dark headlining the light was a black one which I know is hard to find. Went to the local scrap yard resigned to the fact I may have to get a white one. I found a audi a3 with a dark gray light which I got. Fitted it when I got home and it looks better than the one I had. It is a lot brighter too as it has a reflector inside.

Mine fell to bits aswell when i took it out to fit dark headlining so am currently driving without one as ive not got a black one yet and no sunvisors either as i've not black ones of them yet altho might have to give in and put them back in with sun been so low this time of year

Wasn't there a couple of headlinings in the for sale section? Forgot to check what colour the sun visors were in the audi.

yeah but they wouldn't split them as i already have headlining and pillar trims, altho might buy all lot again if he still has it when i go on works course again then i can pickup on way home

Where abouts are you m8? Worth lookin into the a3 sun visors and I thought I saw a a4 with the same interior light as the one I got. Remember a lot of the vag stuff will fit other models.

Bummer need a positive feed from the interior lights, just doubled checked and it works off a switched earth direct to the CCU. Looks like I'll have to give up on my foot well lighting plan, tho I'll still wire it up to the dash lights so it comes on at night. Had all the wiring ready for a duel feed from both light and dash including diodes :(

Why not splice into the live side of the glovebox light loom. I did this in order to do the Passat interior light mod with ambient LEDs? Would this not give you what you need?

I've got that side sorted m8, got a feed off the dimmer switch for that. I was hoping to make them come on when you open the doors using the interior light as a source, but as its a switched earth instead of a switched live its not gonna work.

Wonder if it'll work using a relay to make the switched earth to a switched live? Damn it I'm crap with electrical stuff!

What about the door light at the bottom of the door card? That comes on when the door opens or even unlocks? Is that switched live? I'm equally crap at electrics, tend to just try stuff and if it works then job well done!!!

I wired my rear interior lights direct to Front interior light. 2 wires from each rear light to the front section. These all come on with the door open. Can put a pic up of wiring if needed.

That would of worked if I wasn't running them of the dash lighting aswell, due to the switched earth :(

They are on a different circuit, only comes on when you open the door
