Xenon headlight unit cost?

Featured Replies

A minor prang in a car park has left me with a xenon headlight with broken/bent brackets and a scuffed bumper. The local body shop tells me that the headlight unit will need replacing as a whole (even though all the lights still work) and that it's going to be tres costly.

Has anyone had this done and if so how much was the headlight unit?

I can see that MK1 Superb headlights are about £275 on ebay. I imagine you'd be looking about £300-400 but thats abit of a guess (and not direct from Skoda)

I'm guessing £600+ after a chat with the bodyshop that my dealer uses :(

It was around £650 when I had to replace it about 3 months ago.

Thanks for the replies folks. FYI I asked skodaparts for a price and they quoted £354 inc. VAT for the unit without bulb.

Fortunately a second bodyshop thinks that they can fix the plastic bracket through some additional strengthening so I intend to try that before splashing cash on a new unit!

That's cheap for a self-leveling, bending, projector headlamp unit...

on Skodaparts.com, the 2002-2008 Xenon unit is priced at £560 inc Vat and this didnt go round corners (did it?)

I would have thought the £350 quoted was for a Halogen unit, and not the singing and dancing (literally) Xenon mk2 unit.

Hard to say - I couldn't have made it any clearer in the request that I made to them that it was for a 2011 Superb Xenon :) It did surprise me that it was 'without bulb' though.

Their exact response was:

Item / Part No. / Qty / Price

N/S HEADLAMP WITHOUT BULB - 3T2941017E - 1 - £354.73

FWIW the first bodyshop I went to quoted me £460 for the unit on it's own excluding labour and the bumper re-spray work. I've decided to take it to a different bodyshop though who say that they can repair and strengthen the plastic bracket, saving me the cost of a new headlamp.
