RatSkoda the Pick Up LIVES!

Featured Replies

I bought a Pick Up off eBay (spares or repairs as it would not start) it was cheap & it was only about 40 miles away - well it RUNS  had to swap the imobiliser, transponder & ECU but it RUNS  now I can start putting it back together - the previous owner had removed the seats, carpets, floor trims & centre console in an attempt to get it running :wonder: not sure why but hey it save me taking it out to fit the clean seats & carpets from my donor Felly (BTW that is where ECU etc came from too).

Doesn't look bad for £350 + £30 to go get it Oh and it has a full tank of gas & a Kenwood CD

Checker Plate bed cover came with it too.

But we did have to carry out some invasive surgery to get to the imobiliser control unit...

Sorry just needed to brag - MY PICK UP RUNS  let the ratting begin.

Ratting, so you're gonna matt black it, with chrome wheels and a V8?

Or by ratting do you mean adding a rusty bonnet?

not a V8 or chrome wheel - prob rattle can matt black with some beer lable sticker bombing, later Felly bonnet & grille and red wheels with white wall tyres below is a roadster i built a few years back always liked the look but RatSkoda needs to be a daily driver so 1.3 motor stays and no suicied doors or roof off... yet

Looks like it's in fairly good nick too... There are a few interesting engine options to up the power if you wanted to..

VR6 maybe? :notme:

Hi, nice little pick up for the money there. Like the checker plate addition, have considered the doing similar to the bed of mine as I've now removed all the timber. I'd be interested to see how you go with her, good luck. Rob.

I think its a pretty awkward job swapping over to the chrome conk. The slam panels are different, and the headlights are too, as well as the bumper

hi, swopping the front is easy enough to do, you will have to alter the slam panel for the bonnet catch, headlights & bumper will bolt on,

Well its been a while but not done a lot to RatSkoda, just enjoying the drive... and waiting for it MOT... and YES it passed :whew: tester said he had not seen such a solid one in a while.

So I finally got the tools out and the swapped the bonnet & grille to the facelift ones off my felly hatch

it started the afternoon looking like this -

and finished the afternoon looking like this -

as the bonnet was green it just HAD to go satin black  the rest of him will go satin black shortly.

I went the easy route and modified the slam panel by cutting the relavent section out of the hatch's slam and using it as a template to cut Ratty's - but yes to do the job you need - the bonnet, grille assy, headlamps, headlamp filler panels, bonnet lock and cable. If anyone wants I can do a step by step.

and lowering springs!

^ Yeah she's coming on nicely. How low will low be do you reckon + imagine you'll have to factor in the load carrying capacity?

  • Author

Yes my VAG Comm friends keep on about lowering springs... just need to save the £120 but my mini project is getting all available cash ATM. as for load carrying it only needs to carry the toy car or the odd mini engine.

Would you be interested in selling the grille that you have removed, as I have recently bought a pickup and the grille on it is poor to say the least!! By the way Im liking the mods keep up the good work :-)
