Help from Skoda Tech?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a question I was hoping a Skoda tech may be able to answer.

Got a Mk1 Fabia VRS SE (07) with a sticking throttle. It will idle at anything up to 2K rpm when warm. A little nudge with my toe knocks it back to 800rpm, although the pedal doesn't seem to move very much. Hellish when braking as it fights the brakes (using the brakes doesn't override it in this car).

From a search on here, it appears the throttle pedal assembly needs replaced and the part currently costs £80+vat. However, I noticed a couple of posts that suggested theirs was replaced out of warranty on Skoda UK.

Speaking to Skoda UK was little help they won't discuss this pre-diagnostics and suggested any contribution would be based on Skoda ownership history and length of dealer service history. The car has been serviced independantly.

If there is any doubt that Skoda will cover the full cost then it will be cheaper to fit myself (even if they paid 50%) so I was hoping a tech could confirm if this is a no quibble warranty replaced part or based on a goodwill decision.

Many thanks for any help.

If its been serviced independently you have no chance.

With the car been 5 years old id just buy the part & fit it myself.Even with a full skoda history you still have to pay for the initial diagnostics & may get a 50/50 deal at best.
