Ocassional grating noise when braking

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a problem when braking - sometimes - there is a grating noise from the front offside, feels like the abs is not working - it has new suspension, bushes and wheel bearing, brake pads are fine as is the disc.

Would appreciate any ideas.

Thanks

Darfash

I had this it turned out I had a really small stone between the disc and pad.

The grating noise should have nothing to do with the ABS, as long as your not trying to cause the ABS to kick in by doing an emergency stop? At which point it will make all manner of weird noises and is normal.

Clean the breaks up a bit, maybe compressed air? Or release the brakes on a flat surface and get a normal hose pipe over them, this might dislodge and stones/dust etc... Have you been using the brakes carefully since the new ones were installed? It is possible you could have glazed the new pads by being too rough too soon?
