vrs daily record review

Featured Replies

Reading the paper while im off ill, i came to the motoring pull out and whats on the cover? Well a vrs offcourse :D

Seems a favorable review but i fear they got a few facts wrong:

1- it says it produces 2.5bar of boost? Pretty sure its only 1.1 as standered.

2- it says the supercharger is mechanicaly driven and im sure i read on the chain/belt debate post that it was electonicaly driven?

Ohhh and they say it has a "hunkerd down apperance"....... Aye if ya say so :giggle:

Also says it has longend gear ratios when infact it has shortend ratios

Supercharger is driven by a belt via an electromagnet engaging and disengaging the belt - this is the click you can here at the beginning and end of the supercharger spinning up. Boost intake air is controlled via a butterfly valve to either the turbo or supercharger, or a mixture of both (during the transition period).

With regards to peak boost, I'm not sure. Somebody else I'm sure will have the answer though.

Ahh is that including supercharger boost? Cause on torque app the turbo max is 1.1bar

I think that is supercharger, I'm sure when it's absolute this includes atmospheric pressure which at sea level is approx 1 bar. So 1.1 bar would be 2.1 bar absolute pressure.

Think my college lecturer would kill me for forgeting about absloute pressure and non-absloute pressure :(

heres no difference between turbo or supercharger boost on the car. they produce it together Its the same thing. Its just that the supercharger helps to build that boost faster allowing the turbo to spin up to its optimum boost point.

My car ran 2.25Bar absolute as standard. The actual boost pressure once you remove air pressure( circa 1Bar) is only 1.25Bar give or take a little.

1.25 as standered? Im running 1.1 with the only engine mod is a revo filter and i cant see that restricting any boost

bear in mind though that those logs were taken on mine with the pace IC and decat DP so id imagine it would make slightly better boost than a 100% stock car. Theres also the daily variation in air pressure.

My point being though that these cars dont run 1.5Bar of boost stock. thats stage 2 territory

Not sure where I got 2.5 bar at 1500rpm, most have dreamt it lol. But bottom of page 14 does state 2.5 bar (absolute) at 2400 rpm, and following on from that states the turbo alone produces Max 2 bar (absolute)

That means that if the supercharger doesnt activate the turbo could achieve a maximum of 2 bar.

APR have mentioned something like that to me, i cant remember exactly what it was as it started getting quite deep and my eyes were glazing over lol. iirc the car has a 3Bar sensor fitted however the table of values or potential of the stock map will only allow 2.5Bar. They plan to rewrite or doing something crazy and technical with it all so that it can be used to its full potential, he said it'll take a fair while though.

Just read it. It says a pressure of up to 2.5Bar(absolute). So i guess thats the theoretical stock maximum
