Start with the Internet move to the phone for insurance....

Featured Replies

Used the same method for the Fabia and just did the insurance for the Megane. Got my quotes on the Internet and used that to haggle my Insurance down the phone.

I'm currently with Elephant/Admiral who were quoting me £684 to start with. After refining my policy (removing hire car, add 'access' to another vehicle for me', etc) and talking to them over the phone, I'm at £470!

I'm 24 years old with 6 ncb. The Megane doesn't get used that much and I have access to my company's pool car fleet including the electric vehicles which I use so mileage is low for the Megane.

But yes, think you'd be mad to just accept the top price on the Internet comparison site now like I use to do. Phoning around, trading companies off against one another is the way to go,

Just make up a price - that's what most insurance companies seem to do anyway, so just just call and say you've got a quote for £X and see if they'll match it. Worked with my home insurance :)

Why would you remove hire car as in event of a prang you've no transport.

I always wondered if this would work...think i'll be trying that in 6 months time for my girlfriends insurance and mine :D

Why not? Insurance companies are like anything else, there's an offer of a price and an acceptance :D
