apart from the dealers, could someone tell me where i could buy a New pair of drive shafts for my superb? (1.9tdi 130pd awx)

does anyone have the oe part numbers for me to cross reference?

also im assuming that the 130pd awx drive shafts differ from other 1.9tdi models! is this correct?

thanks.

Do you need driveshafts or just CV joints?

GSF had also Superb/Passat ones last time I got ones for Octavia.

Keep in mind that compared to VW ones the GSF driveshafts were barely serviceable, the ball cage was too tight, replacing grease after a few years was a real pain. But they were 1/3rd VW price...

Other than that, probably scrapyard is the best place to shop for whole driveshafts.

GSF, ask for the GSP CV joints, comes in a blue box, full kit including joint itself, around £40 a side iirc.

i maybe wrong but isnt GSP a chinese brand? im always concerned when it come to parts made in china.

what is the actual cost of genuine driveshafts? and does the passat and A4 share the same shafts?

Not sure tbh, it all looked pretty good and well put together, full English instructions as well included.

Just ring GSF with your reg number and the system will do the rest.

I bought a GSF driveshaft and it's been fine so far. If you want the part number why not just ring someone who is in the know, like GSF or a Skoda dealer?? Surely quicker than someone on here 'maybe' knowing the part number?

i always ask here first as theres alot of people in the know, however at times it takes ages for anyone to reply so i ended up going to a local skoda dealer and purchasing a pair of outer cv joints and also a pair of front wheel bearings of which both where made by GKN.

J&R I think they're called do driveshafts and cv joints, they advertise on ebay. Got one for my octy and the joints have VW stamps on them. If it isn't listed for the superb you may have to ring them to see if they do them as I had to do for my vrs

AARGH!

what are the tell tale signs of the INNER cv joint wearing out?

going over bumps and going down a low kerb im getting this horrible creeking/crunching/knocky sound,

also when i going around an island im getting a droaning/grumbling noise from the n/s,

and also im getting a strange judder/vibration starting from the front and travelling through the car to the rear, i feel this through the pedals and through my seat.

does this sound like the inner cv is on its way out?

note that ive replaced a few bits on the car already as part of a refresh service.

both outer cv joints.

All wheel bearings/hubs

All suspension arms

Poly bushed inner anti roll bar bushes

Relatively new kw skocks and springs all round.

New strut top foam boobys.

Std steel wheels re balanced, wheels are straight.

19" wheels re balanced, wheels are straight.

i cant think it could be anything else besides the inner cv joints!

ive physically grabbed the driveshaft right next to the inner joint and it feels tight with no knocking or wobbly feel.

the car just doesnt feel right to drive at the moment.

any ideas?

i wonder if audi a6 driveshafts share the same with the superb? - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Passat-1-9-TDi-130-BHP-AWX-AVF-N-S-Drive-Shaft-8D0-407-271-EH-WARRANTY-/330748945464?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4d022c6438#ht_500wt_969

for the life of me i cant seem to find a place that sells INNER cv joints !?!?

Link bars, not expensive, looks like a C shape with the vertical of the C as a I, or like someone bent a dog bone biscuit the same way at both ends.

If you want to test before buying, simply spray them with WD40 and see if the noise goes, they are at the end of the the front anti roll bar, hth.

That vibration through the pedals I had myself on certain types of uneven road, never did find out what it was and Skoda were no help at all,

I trust your brake pads are ok regarding the cornering rumble.

are you talking about the drop links? the "C shaped dog bone"? if so, this was replaced as part of the overhaul.

regarding brake pads, my front will need changing soon, ive got no warning lights up yet but im starting to hear the brake pad ever so slightly grind when braking.

ive got a feeling, as this as ive noticed this before, that the knocking noise maybe coming from the 2 lock nuts that hold the spring top seat to the strut top housing! "the 2 threaded bolts that pass through the strut top and are then bolted to it with the lock nuts". i noticed when when we fitted new susp arms etc that these 2 lock nuts had worked there was loose and were just floating there! just a flick of the finger and i could undo them. this leads me to believe that the spring top seat maybe wobbling under the strut top housing

why would these 2 lock nuts come loose?

i have a feeling i need to fit new bump stops as the oe bump stops are still fitted, im thinking that these are too long obviously for the shortened shocks and these maybe having an effect on the top end of the strut.?

does anyone know of any shortened bump stops that will fit With the dust cover.?

as my shocks lower the front by 40mm do i fit bump stops that are actually 40mm shorter in length than the oe bump stops? ive no idea on the length of oe bump stops either!
