Skoda brand director Robert Hazelwood said the network achieved its third consecutive year of record business in 2011.

“We’re set to achieve 50,000 sales this year for a market share of around 2.5 per cent but we’re on target to reach 80,000 volume in 2016 – double the number we achieve in 2010.

“The business will come from a well-developed plan that we believe is credible, so we’re asking the network to make sure they’re ready for our new range,” he said.

Following the launch of its new city runabout model, Skoda will reveal a new car in September positioned between the Fabia and Octavia. As yet unnamed, it will be available in hatchback and estate form.

“After that, we get the next-generation Octavia next spring, so there’s real momentum in the network and we’re asking dealers to invest now to prepare for our new seven-car range.

Why? There's not enough room between the Octy and the Furby for another car. Kinda smacks of 'because we can' from VAG.

This would explain why I've seen a couple of dealers having showrooms rebuilt recently (especially Sherlodge).

The next octavia will be bigger so the gap will be larger.

So the Octy3 should be out by 2013 then, what abt the FL Superb? no launch date for that this year?

Mmm, I think I might put of the decision about a new car until I hear more about this new model.

Whilst I love my Octy, it's a bit big for a single person, a "Focus" sized model may well just be the perfect size.

I thought the Octy was a Focus/Golf size?

I believe the Vision D I think its called at the moment is out in the Autumn then the Octy replacement next year, my dealer already has various 'tempting' advertising material around the showroom at the moment!

I think you'll find that it's slightly bigger courtesy of the boot.

Maybe this will be aimed to be the same as the vw Jetta and yes the Jetta is smaller than the Octavia , what's a furby?

Octi is supposed to be gettin its wheel base extended to rival Mondeo/insignia rumour has it the vrs is goin to be 260 bhp would love if it got 4wd aswell to contend with the vxr!! Please please skoda!!
