Aux in to symphony head unit

Featured Replies

Has anyone on here fitted the aux in adaptor to there headunit? if so please leave a comment, fitted mine today and have a slight issue thanks :)

How did you get the aux lead into the unit, as I presume this was done from being the unit?

I'd like to fit an aux lead to my standard symphony unit, but don't have a clue how I do it

You can get adapter kits for the Symphony head unit that use the connections a CD multichanger would have ordinarily utilized. A quick Google will throw some of these kits up and a few installation guides too. From memory it's not too complicated, just gotta slide the head unit out.

Yep! I fitted one on my fabia last weekend, just search symphony aux on ebay. My kit was 25quid and an easy job. Just plugs in where the cd changer would go. I took the glove box out which reveals the perfect place to attach the earth wire. Sweeeeeet!

Symphony can suffer from interference. It's a reasonable unit but does have its drawbacks.

I presume you mean you've got a connects2 or similar? Placement of the unit and the ipod in relation to the dash and the electrics will make a difference. As will where you run the cables. You could shield the cables or run shielded cables or shield the entire cable plus connects2. And/Or fit a choke on any additional power cables.

Ultimately if you can't hear interference when playing at normal levels I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you're into Delibes or Faure....

its the connects2 adaptor, what would u recomend sheilding the cables with?

Moving the earth further away from the HU will sort that out.

I earthed mine on the back of the headunit.

None what so ever!

Reads about right. A car dash area is "noisy" in electrical terms and iPods etc aren't really developed to cope with that sort of problem. Any unshielded cable in the vicinity of the dash can potentially become "aerial like" and pick up interference from the cars's electrics and electronics and the iPod or iPhone isn't built to reject or suppress that interference.
