The new Peugeot 508

Featured Replies

Hi, just wondered what fellow Briskodians thought of Peugeots latest exec offering- the 508. I have one on order (estate) to replace my Octavia. I change my car quite often as I get bored very easily but always come back every 3 years or so to Skoda.

I was taken with how quiet the 2.0 HDI engine is, its much quieter than the VAG group diesel offerings I have been driving. I was also taken with the amount of stuff, gadgets, toys you get for the money. It rivals or betters Skoda on 'car for the money'.

I was also taken by the build and quality of this car, i went in thinking typical French but left thinking typical German. it was impressive.

I have never had a Peugeot before, are the horror stories to be believed? Will I be back in a Skoda showroom in the next few months?!

It will be intresting to know peoples thoughts.

I went and drove a couple, and loved it. The only reason I chose a superb instead, was because my daughter felt sick in the back after

5 minutes :S what trim and colour have you ordered??

Hi thanks for the input, I have ordered an Allure with head up display, front parking sensors with park assist and quad zone climate control and programmble heating system. In Alpine Blue. i bold colour but my prevoius cars have been black, silver or grey so fancied a change.

My daughter (3) fell asleep during th test drive on both occasions in the 508. If ever I needed a selling point, then that was it!

Superb is, quite frankly, just that-superb. I would have one in a flash but just fancied a change. The dash and layout is the same as my current Octavia and i would feel as though I have not changed the car! The model you have I bet is a beast.

Good choice. That's the trim I was looking at. The GT is a bit too much money, not very economical and depreciates ALOT. The low trim levels don't have enough equipment for me. The Allure is the best of both worlds. I love the colour and options to. I love the four-zone climate control, especially the fact that it costs 3 times less that the same thing in a £90K Audi or BMW :D I wish skoda did it

Like the look of it but the PSA gearbox that goes in Citroen and Peugeot is carp.

Yes, the 'ECG' eco gearbox is crap, but the others are fine. Nothing compares to DSG though :p

I had one as a rental in Germany a few months ago, it was very cold (-15) and the gearbox was woeful.

I really had to force it into gear.

Once the engine/gearbox oil warmed up it improved but still wasn't right, I think it may have been faulty.
