Bought A Fabia vRS Estate!

Featured Replies

Just put a deposit on this little gem! Once I've sold my Octy vRS CR TDI I can pick it up.

Fabia vRS Estate

4,700 miles

October 2011 (61 Reg)

Black Magic Colour

Bluetooth

Black painted roof rails

Rear Parking Sensors

17" Black/Chrome Alloys

Part of the deal was a spare wheel, 6 months tax, the next 2 services (Skoda Service Plan), half a tank of petrol and all scratches sorted + 2 wheel refurbs so it should be minty mcmint!

What do you think I should've paid? Interesting to see how good my haggling skills are!

Was told it would be a minimum 9 month wait for a new Fabia vRS Estate!!!! Found this online accidentally through google images of all places!

What are my options?

Looking nice Andy - good choice. Hopefully reduce the fuel bills!

That looks very nice.

Reduce the fuel bills? Diesel to petrol?

Cracking colour & car. Needs lowering with H&Rs to look fantastic !

As far as MPG goes, don't expect to get more than 300 miles from £60 worth of BP / Shell super expensive petrol when driving 'normally' though (i.e - using the VRS as a VRS) :giggle:

MPG doesn't really concern me at 8k a year.

Has anyone done the Eibach Skoda lowering thingy?

That looks mean! Not overly keen on the wheels but it does look very nice

Love it! :) Slightly biased though!!

However, being a 61 plate it shouldn't have scratches??? Mine is immaculate on an 11 plate, I always thought having a new car meant looking after it lol

As mentioned above 300 miles - £60/£70 on v-power is the norm.

Should have paid £15,000 or so?

My dealer just sold a 60 plate vRS Estate for £15,000 no options and 10k miles.

When I say scratches I mean stuff that'll buff out.

Paid £15000 with 6 months tax, half a tank, spare wheel from another in showroom and 2 Skoda services for £120.

Nice work :)

I paid a lot less but took advantage of the VAT free offer at the time!

Shouldn't lose too much value after that.

Makes me want a black one! My dealer have a hatch in black/black grill/black wheels looks the nuts!!

enjoy your new car, and come over to the fabiaII section, lowering ect has been done to death ;)

The estate is the one I'd go for. if I had been working instead of studying I would have jumped at the VAT free offers Skoda were doing on these a year or so ago. I drove the new VRS on launch. Well impressed with that engine but found it a little bit uninvolving. I would still love one though :)

I kinda thought the same about "univolving" when I first drove it matt...

then I did a bit more than you may normally do... and was on the hill climb in WSM least year (we are about to do the same!) and found (on the lichen covered wet, greasy no grip surface) I could launch it quick into a corner, tap the brakes to shift the weight, get the back out a bit, and then power out turning into the line I wanted....

ooohh MINT!

;)

Using the paddles was that Skarky? :) I was just a little bemused that there was no "old school" manual option. With a stick shift it would be absolutely awesome but it is a great little car and the power delivery on that engine is terrific :)

always on the paddles when not cruising to work matt ;) and trust me, you would adapt after a few thousand miles, and never look back.... I would never have a traditional manual again. seriously....

comming home tonight... 6th gear "x" mph approaching a bend, quickly tapping down the gears with the left paddle to 3rd on approach... the engine "blipping" getting third at 5k on the straight approching, nice bit of engine braking... full throttle (instant response) on exit, up to 7k changing up... listening to the scream of the engine.... MAGIC!

Looks good that. Not seen many Black Magic estates - nice choice

15k seems like a good deal to me.

Knowing which gear to be in is going to take a while methinks?!

Which gears good for that 40-60 zone on a b-road blast?

depends... going to be between 2nd and third......

if you want full throttle mentalness, drop to 2nd, and let it auto change up .... if you want a more relaxed approach, choose 3rd or 4th, but dont use the "microswitch" on full throttle or it will drop down anyway.... so 3/4 throttle is needed if you just want it to stay in the gear you choose...

I found it quite hard to start with, to make it work.... I completley understand why people comming from a manual dont like the DSG, but really, once you have cracked using the paddles, understanding the gearbox software, and makeing the most of one of the best engines out there... its cracking!

Absolutely agree Dave.

I have never been so bowled over by a single piece of technology before.

Edit - Thinking about it, maybe I have.
