Featured Replies

I have already found the correct link and asked this question but no response, I have also PM'd someone reference this...

So now I have a topic on it...

What size self tapping screws are best advised for fitting Leon cupra splitter to mk1 Fabia, I.e length and aggression of thread,

Many thanks Paul

Any ones really mate, about half an inch long with any thread and a couple of inch long ones to use on the middle bits you cut down.

Thank you very much sir, thank you

Paul

Stainless steel would be better ;)

First winter with salty roads and normal screws may corrode badly.

I got a big bag of them for about 3 quid from ebay.

But you'll only need 14 or so.

These are ideal----> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/No10-A4-MARINE-GRADE-Stainless-Steel-PAN-HEAD-Self-Tapping-Screws-/270825572467?pt=UK_DIY_Material_Nails_Fixing_MJ&var=&hash=item84b8ba1344

As you can choose the quantity and length. I think anything narrower than 10 gauge

is too thin for this application. Half inch or 5/8ths is long enough, but not too long

I also made pilot holes first before putting the self tappers through.

It'll make less of a mess of the bumper and the screws will go in easier.

No bother, I've fitted a couple of these. If you can get the car up on ramps or axle

stands it will be much more easy to get a screwgun under there.

It's also easier with an assistant if you have access to one.

You can always fit it with regular screws and retro fit stainless ones at a later date

taking them out one at a time and replacing them.

I did mine in 30mins and that included taking the front bumper off. If you get stuck throw a post up and I'm sure someone Will help you with a quick response.
