Wheel nuts....arrrrgghhh

Featured Replies

Hi there

Im looking for some advice from a tech please.

Ive got a mk 2 Octy VRS with the Brock B14 18" wheels.

After a recent service I was told that Ineeded to replace the nuts as they were looking a bit tired and the threads were starting to go.

Got a full replacement set of M14 x 1.5(? I think) x 28 radius which the garage said were right. However the tech said because Id got the Brock wheels I should have got replacement nuts that were slightly longer when the wheels were fitted.....I bought this car 2nd hand so this is the first Ive heard of it. I cant seem to find any bolts that are the same but in 35 mm or thereabouts.

Asked at the dealer if they could get the nuts and was told "No, because they are no longer supplied by us and no longer made".

Can anyone point me in the right direction as I've gotta start commuting in it starting next week and I need to get this sorted

THanks in advance guys

My Octavia has bolts not nuts. Be careful what you ask for.

Nuts,.....bolts meh! I was frustrated when writing the post so my bad......but the question remains.

If you're anywhere near kings Lynn (noticed your profile says East Anglia) it could be worth trying kl nuts and bolts. 01553 763487.

'Bolts a bit tired and the threads starting to go' ?!

I find that a bit alarming. How old the car and what mileage?

Worth finding out what the offset is on the wheels too, as that can play a part in dictating the bolt length. I have slightly longer bolts on my ET42 Turinis, for example.
