Up before the beak for over-egging the pudding ?

Lol.

I can kind of see Apple's point... people really should check first. But at the same time I'm pretty sure Apple knew what they were doing and probably shouldn't have been selling something that won't work properly in the country they are selling it in.

Phil

I have a Roomster supplied by Skoda UK with a quoted top speed of 114MPH but I cannot legally drive at that speed on any public road unless I travel to the Isle of Man or Germany.

My broadband supplier tells me I can get speeds up to 11.4Mbps, but I never get more than 6Mbps.

The Government tell me all the measures they put in place will make this country a better place to live (that is every Government since time began), but I am not so sure.

In the same way most of us only get good mobile reception on a mobile device in certain locations. If you want to be pedantic about things there are some locations in the World that an Australian iPad consumer could get a 4G service, the question is did they know Australia was not one of them?

Let's face it there are not many things in life you can take at face value and actually do what they say on the tin.

Apple says the new iPad works on what is globally accepted to be a 4G network.
If that's true, then that's the clincher for me. Much as I don't like Apple in general, if Telstra's network differs from the widespread definition of "4G" then I would say their customers' beef lies with them (i.e. people are paying for a "4G" service and not receiving it), and not Apple.

The US use one freq band set for LTE, the rest of the world the other.

When Apple say "World", they mean it in the same way as the Baseball "World Series", which ONLY features teams from the USA

If only the State department/CIA/DOD would keep to this definition. :giggle:

IMHO, good on the Aussies. Too much IT stuff is sold to the unsuspecting on the basis of misleading descriptions and representations.

Just look at some of the Fire Sale stuff that Amazon knock out - enough to build several Saturn Vs. :hi:
