Very weird problem if I park facing downhill I really struggle to start the car and it starts very rough and I have to give it a little rev. Once its going it seems ok. If i park facing uphill on the same road it starts no issues

Any ideas on this?

Fuel pump problem perhaps? Does it happen on a full tank of fuel (ie. so there's definitely fuel at the pump base)

You don't say whether it's your Mk1 or Mk2 VRS but if the latter then I had a petrol car some years ago that didn't like short runs and parking on hills. Something to do with fuel getting trapped somewhere that effectively flooded the engine when starting.

Its a MK2. Have 3/4 tank and was doing it today. What you said about fuel getting trapped after a short run could be it as it happens when I work between 2 sites a mile away, keep having to travel between them
