The impending fuel 'crisis'

Featured Replies

Thought I'd top the car up with V-Power today but thanks to the scare-tactics of the Goverment only standard unleaded was available. This is contrary to my previous experiences when high octane fuel was the second choice so-to-speak.

Lumpy running aside, has anyone else had any trouble getting high octane fuel for their vRS? And if so, will there be any problems with the engine?

no panic buying up here in the lakes ;)

there will be no problem with 95.... I have tried it, engine felt flat at high revs, and the fuel economy dropped by 3 mpg.... but otherwise fine... (I had no choice... empty tank, no super) but I will consequently always use super, if its available

I know someone running revo remap, who gets misfires on 95.. so only the best stuff there.

basically with 95 the ECU will retard the ignition to prevent detonation, so will reduce power and fuel economy a little, but will not hurt it.

I filled my tank up yestarday because i had too, and after 2 days im back down to half a tank and i do a fair bit of driving at the weekends, so thanks to all these panic merchants it looks like il be struggling for fuel come monday :(

Closing this as there are other threads running already on the fuel strike.
