CAN based cluster in a non-can car

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd let you know I had a little play today with the cluster on my MY2000 1.6 glxi octy and the results were surprising.

So firstly my original cluster is a 919 based cluster - but I checked the green connector and found an orange/black wire on t19 (can-high) this was a good sign :-)

Secondly dug out an old passat b5 cluster I had lying around and plugged it in - it fired up nicely, showed external temperature and cycled through the computer options. But immob2 was messing about :-(

But what I did remember was an old trick for emergency starting an immob2 car if you know the SKC

Voila :-) the car started revs/speed/fuel etc all work nicely - a few soft codings and I would have been away :-)post-87846-13331316097883_thumb.jpg

Still to do :

Buy a 920 based cluster

Buy new blades and immob transponders that are compatible with 920 dashes (group22 on vcds pointed out the key I had isn't compatible)

Cool huh :-)
