Intermittent throttle response problem

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a 2007 fsi VRS and i'm experiencing a very annoying problem which I hope someone can help with. A few weeks ago the car was kangarooing during a lunch break at work but no engine management light was on, That evening I started the car and the revs were very high and I had to wait for them to come down to normal after a while and then it seemed to drive reasonably but the engine management light was on. The next day the light had gone off and it seemed ok apart from occasionally slightly lumpy idle. I decided to take it to Skoda and they found a couple of faults which seemed to be related to the throttle body but stressed it could be the part, the wiring or something completely diffrent but couldn't do anything without further investigation so they cleared the faults. It has been driving ok but I have an intermittent problem, sometimes when i'm driving it home from work I can litterally put my foot flat to the floor on the throttle and nothing will happen untill the turbo spools and it starts responding, it's very lethargic and feels as if you are driving with the handbrake on, the thing is you can turn the engine off to pop in a shop or something and when you get back in a restart the car it seems to drive better.

Someone please help me, the car is under warranty with a car supermarket but without an engine light being on and having an intermittent problem I don't think they will solve the problem, also the dealer is a good 50miles from me. I'd like to identify the problem in advance without paying skoda for a few hours of diagnostics.

Could it be the throttle body giving me brief? Or throttle sensor?

Please help someone.

Thanks

Mark
