Wheel mullered - refurb or replace?

Featured Replies

Thursday morning on the way to work was on the inside lane of A4, bus overtaking decided to swerve in front of me forcing me into the kerb at around 40mph. Bounced off and was probably lucky it wa only the wheel that got damaged but nevertheless am mighty p***ed off.

Pics to follow when I get them off the iphone.

Fortunately the tire doesn't seem to have been touched and tracking isn't affected, so far at least although I know it sometimes takes a while to show up.

Question is refurb or replace. Any ideas what price would be for an "as new" refurb and pros/cons versus replacing with a new wheel?

Thanks for your thoughts.

You are looking at about £55 for a wheel refurb. Lepsons in Gillingham offer an excellent service.

Get ot refurbed. A new wheel from the dealer will set you back around £200. A refurb will cost about £55 or so. A good refurb and it will be as good as new. Or maybe even better!

Refurb will be fine - Looks like a glancing blow, similar to mine when i hit a broken drain which flicked up the grid and took a chunk out of the rim protector and the wheel.

Cost me £30 to get it done.

Thanks guys, I think at that price differential a refurb is a no brainer. Any relccomendations in the south bucks (high Wycombe) area?

I'm also going to have a quick trawl round scrap yards & breakers. You never know...
