    Octavia. Seat exeo.

  • I looked at the Passat but didn't like the interior and dash and as thats where I would be sitting the Superb was a much more pleasing enviroment, Also looked at the A4 but was surprised at how small

It was either an fabia estate octavia or superb for me but the superb's sheer size won me over

Was down to a number of cars available on our company car list.

Audi A4 saloon - basic spec, 2.0 engine

BMW 3 series saloon - mid spec but higher powered engine

BMW 3 series touring - mid spec but lower powered engine

Octavia - either hatch or combi with high spec

Superb - either hatch or combi with mid spec

SEAT Exeo - combi with high spec

VW Passat - mid spec but 1.6 engine

Previously had two Octavias and had an A4 at the time. Superb won it for me on equipment, space and styling.

Spec'd and ordered without so much as a test drive :D

I used to have a Octavia Scout from 2008-2011 when I make an error and bought a Vauxhall Antara when was returned back to the garage after 3 months. Could not find a Skoda 4x4 that I liked (could afford) so bought a 09 Mondeo Zetec as a stop gap car.

In March 2012 I found an Octavia 4x4 with 15,000 miles at a good price, 09 reg with 1 owner. It was in the right colour and at my favourite dealer (Simpsons at Colne). Then in July 2012 the car was written off when another hit me (£18000 worth of damage when they stopped counting) so the search was on again for a new car.

I really wanted another Octavia 4x4 or Scout, but I could not find one I liked. Looked at Freelander 2 and Volkswagen Tiguan, thre VW came close, but price high and spec low.

Then through the wonder of Autotrader I found the Superb Elegance 170 4x4 at Alex Laurie in Liverpool - 90 miles from home. Went to see it an fell in love with the colour (Rosso with cream leather) and bough the car. Dealer was great, especially as I had to travel by train to pick the car up as I had no part ex.

Love all they toys you get for the money, running costs not too bad for a car of it's size and performance. However in the last 2 weeks I had a puncture - £145 for the tyre and today my neighbour reversed in to the Suberb and broke the headlight and scuffed the bumper - £700+ (he's paying). What will be next!

I bought my Superb because I needed a car that I could fit in two baby seats and still have enough room to drive being six foot one. There was no other car that could fit my twins, the wife and myself all in on a sensible budget, i.e. £18K for a 1.8Tsi Twindoor SE with a few extras.

.........There was no other car that could fit my twins, the wife and myself....

Boys or girls? or one of each? I have 2 boys, 7 years old. Welcome to the club - both of twins and Superbs.

I looked at the Passat but didn't like the interior and dash and as thats where I would be sitting the Superb was a much more pleasing enviroment, Also looked at the A4 but was surprised at how small and cramped it was, tiny boot even on the estate! got to admit quite like the look of a Mondeo from the outside but it looks like someone from Halfords has been let loose with a can of silver spray when designing the interior! Didn't even bother with the Insignia despite the fact I saw an 09 plate 2.0 diesel with a very good spec at a garage for £7500 and it only had 54k on it! Whilst mine cost me 4 grand more than that and the exterior styling of the hatch isn't to everyones taste, although i do like it, I couldn't find a car with the spec and comfort that i could get with the Superb2. Oh the fact it was grey and always wanted a grey car but could never get one helped and the manual 4x4 is a bonus for towing my caravan!

I was at the haggling stage on an Audi A6 Avant four days before I committed to the Superb L&K I have now. It was a sport model in white with absolutely no extras but it was still 2 grand more than the Superb that had all the toys. It was the same age and had the same mileage. They blew it when I went out 45 minutes after them assessing my Passat to find the drivers door wide open to the binding of the hinges in the middle of their customer car park. Muppets :@

Incidentally, I specced an Audi to the same spec (slightly less as it cannot be specced as much when it comes to seats) on their configurator on their web site and it came to £47,000. That's £16 - £17 grand more than a Superb Combi L&K.

Even if I had the money, I would be seriously thinking about this.

I came from a Passat estate 140. as much as it was a good car, it was a bit basic and boring. It was just a car!

I seem to be a bit more 'connected' to the Superb. It just feels good to drive and own.

I was also waiting for the new Mazda 6 estate, but I was not convinced with the interior quality.

BMW's and Mercs!?....NAH!

Audi or BMW, they seem to be extreemly good for the environment as they do not seem to have any lights so less work for the engine, alternator and battery = less emissions. Also they seem to be exempt from all speed limits and have their own lanes on dual carriageways and motorways
