Electric mirrors movement switch having a a little moment

Featured Replies

Right went to lower my left hand mirror the other day so i could reverse into a space and not smack the kerb. And noticed that both mirrors lowered at the same time just by using the left hand switch position

But now it has swapped sides and it is the right hand mirror position which moves both mirrors simultaneously.

So it would seem i have a bug in the system so I'm wondering if there is anyway of reseting the mirrors to get them back on track or should i hook up VCDS and see if there is a fault running somewhere.

thanks ross....

Both mirrors should only lower with the knob in the 'R' position. With the knob in the 'L' position just the left mirror should lower.

It is possible to turn this feature off (de-synchronise) using Maxidot (or VDCS if Maxidot not fitted) so that only the side selected adjusts.

Ah yes this feature has the ablity to confuse if you don't read the manual carefully! Though now I've mastered it, it really does work well. Having an electric driver's seat the mirrors (and seat of course) always comes back to the same spot I want them when I unlock the car or set the seat to memory 1. I drive the modern way with my exterior mirrors toed out to point directly at the cars in my blindspot. Thus you can't see any cars in your exterior mirrors that are right behind you - which thankfully the interior rearview mirror was made for... BUT when I tow I can't use that and then the exterior mirrors have to go back to the normal old fashioned way showing a bit of your car in them so you can see behind you (as if you did not know there was a bit of your own car JUST there... ) But anyway, I digress, having the button in R I only need set the driver's mirror every time I get in and out (as they reset to the saved position as described above with every unlock) and both adjust to the new position at the same time. Very clever.

I just set mine to work seperately. Much easier.
