Halfords boost gauge any good?

Featured Replies

Hi all, decided its time to fit a boost gauge, seen the autogauge boost gauges at halfords but wondered if anyone knows if they are any good:

Pretty sure I can manage to fit it, dosnt look too difficult.

Seen a few comments about tapping in next to the FPR but also seen people suggest tapping into the hose just before it goes into the top of the DV?

The correct place is in the pipe from inlet manifold to FPR pipe like this

there are also a couple of project threads to help u with the fitting

for the routing of vacuum hose have a look a gee-mans thread, very helpful, also www.pimpmyskoda.co.uk for Robs. Also Bowders1 has some useful threads too.

Hope that helps with the fitting. As for the gauge, i learnt from buying cheap ones that not always great idea, so went for a more expensive one to be slightly more accurate.

Thnx, the install should be fine, seen the many guides etc, I thought it was correct to tap in next to the fpr, just wanted to check I hadn't missed anything :0)

they look nice but £60... all my cash goes on v-power :)

Did however find this:

and they are quite local, could pick one up whilst at work, would save delivery costs. I seem to recall reading it is worth getting a "step motor" gauge or something similar?
