Might not be another Skoda

Featured Replies

Had the weekend looking at cars, was fairly sure that we'd be ordering a new Octavia estate 2.0 TDI as I've been very happy with the vRS. Looking at the specs and cost of the new Octavia though it does bring it closer to some of the competition than before and after having a test drive in a Volvo V50 2.0 deisel I came away quite impressed, feels a touch more sporty and composed on the road, residual values are higher and all the saftey gizmos come as standard. The dealer also has one in the showroom instead of the 8 weeks I've been quoted for the Octavia delivery. Really got to sit down and work out which will be the best buy now, it's very close

i know exactly what you mean, i may be saying bye to skoda very shortly. the new octy is meant to be great but it does start becoming very close to other cars and similar to a few 2nd hand ones.

Isn't the Volvo quite a bit more expensive though? I was sat in a V50 a few weeks ago, and I was not impressed with the rear legroom. The interior didn't feel as high quality as I thought it would either.

I though of the V50 before getting the Octy 2 estate, but the good px price on my RS and the healthy discount Horners were offering meant the Skoda was far more economical. Granted though the V50 is a stunning car, the price of the Diesel with the same spec at the Octy Elegance is 20,111.00 from their internet site, so I'd say the list price of the Octy estate is still a lot cheaper at

Well looking at L&K with 17" wheels, esp, metallic paint, etc list is just over

Yes it would seem the L&K is quite expensive, but then the Volvo you need to add the following: ISOFIX

I will definately be having another skoda.Either octavia sport pd 140 or wait and see the new RS.They are certainly not cheap now but why should they be? I could potentially go out and buy any other make I wanted. But why? Volvos are nice but thats it .BMW 3's are the new mondeo.Audi's are very nice but expensive and so on.I am an absolute car-aholic and never thought I would say that about skoda :D

I have already had a year of great motoring in the octy vRS and my wife had three trouble free years in a fabia 1.4 and now 6 months in a fab vRS.

Residuals are getting so much better and the new octavia hatch and estates look and feel like quality cars.Time and time again they win tests and for good reason. They are one of the best cars on the market with good(on the most part) dealers.I have hated car ownership in the past when I had to get involved with dealers. Not a fun experience.Won't be doing that again.

The superb ,octavia and fabia represent probably one of the best cars in each segment. There is really only one reason for not buying one which is the badge.Give it just a few more years and it will be as forgotten.Just as Subaru did.Anyone s****** at them anymore? No. ;)
