My New Fabia Monte Carlo TDI

Featured Replies

Ok, ok... it's not mine, it's a courtesy car

So, it's a Fabia Monte Carlo TDI, in black, and everything else is black too. Not really a fan of this look.

Good bits:

New car smell

Seats are very comfy, grippy and supportive

Stereo is nice, speakers are decent

I like the black headlights

Appears to be room behind me for adult people (I'm 6'1")

Boot is roomy and has clever bits to keep your apples from rolling everywhere, and bits to hang your takeaway on

Clear trip computer display

Rides well over bumps

Bad bits:

Seats don't go low enough, felt like I was driving an MX5 (as above, I'm 6'1")

Windscreen is very narrow (possibly exacerbated by the above point)

Gearknob felt very far away (again, see above)

Interior was dark and depressing, with some nasty plastics (notably the door handles)

Dials were quite dark aswell

The dash juts out underneath the stereo and I caught my knee on it

Noisy, was very vocal underneath any acceleration, but that was ok because...

On a cruise the wind noise around the A pillars drowned out any engine noise

It rolls like a Weebl

Slow

Diesel

Looks good IMO

Agree with the seat thing. I'm 6'1 and can't get the seat low enough or far enough back especially coming from a seat Ibiza where you can sit on the floor of the rear seats if you like.

Hi Babs, nice post. I like the look of the black too, but that's just me. Noise, they get substantially quieter as the miles go on. At 10k they are wisper quiet and the torque and power is improved too. Have you thought about having your left knee cap removed? Errr...no that's not a threat!!!! It would just make knocking your knee on the dash less likely. :giggle: What's happened to your Vrs?

It's just in for a service today. I actually prefer the old 1.4 3-pot to the current 1.6 TDI, it was slow, but at least made a more characterful noise!

Take a Greenline 1.2 up to the redline -now that's an interesting sound!

I agree, the fabia has a really shallow windscreen! kinda keeps you cacooned, I like that! I'm 5ft 11 though...so no issues on reach/adjust & no ergonomic issues! :)
