Superb MK1 '03 plate. 1.9TDI (100BHP). How much for a new turbo, cheapest possible? Had quotes from dealers of a grand, bit expensive I thought.

Couple of other questions. How easy is it to take the dash off of the Superb? I'm just thinking about fixing a clip rattle.

I don't know if I'll change the turbo actually, it's just I've got a whistle from mine. No loss of boost, power of functionality in the turbo. Still going strong. Just whistles (irritating). Doesn't whistle if it's not in gear, only in gear & boosting. Not always there actually, sometimes it boosts without the noise? Wonder whether there's some sort of turbo specialist shop I could go to.

I've still got this bloody noise on my left hand side when turning that way (really needs to be turning left up/across an incline (even slight), a real sort of croak (repeating) like a really deep floorboard creak. Began as soon as the spring was changed on that side. Doesn't seem anything up with the spring right enough.

Got a click when turning/locking wheel to the right as well. CV Joint?

Big rumble under my passenger footwell too. Plasticy and hollow sounding, reckon the air-con duct might have came away? Only thing I can think of to be honest. Fingers crossed it is that.

If you want a whistling re-con expect around £600, if you want a turbo that is fresh a grand is the price.

Personally I'd scour the scrappies, just make sure you get the numbers right as it will be coming off a B5 Passat.
