Console bush thanks

Featured Replies

Just a quick 'thankyou' to all who gave advice and help whilst I tackled the console bushes on my son's Fabia 1.

Never having stripped this type of suspension before, I was a little nervous.

Using the Sealey VSE4781 removel and refitting tool made it a breeze.

The photo thread on this forum was particularly helpful especially the special lubricant tip which saved a lot of hammering.

Off side fulcrum bolt was impossible to insert until good advice to unbolt 'dog bone' and raise engine a couple of inches.

Must mention Gary at http://www.skospares.com/ who sent excellent condition used consoles after the fulcrum bolt sheared in one. Prompt and efficient service at a sensible price. He has been dismantling Skodas for years and was a fount of knowledge.

Also thanks to Colin Gunning , independant VW/ Skoda garage in Hertford for doing the tracking after job finished. So helpful.

Hortons Skoda, quick and efficient, too, with the fulcrum and ball joint bolts as well as special lubricant 'jollop' previously mentioned.

This is such a great forum, I realise many on it have read all these topics many times but us ' new to Skoda' people really value your help and expertise.

Now for the Polo (1998) console bushes, I don't suppose anyone knows how to modify the Sealey VSE4781 tool to fit the earlier model?

Oh! I forgot, didn' t require the n/s console as bolt came out easily ( must have been the copious amounts of penetrating oil I used after the first one sheared) so if anyone needs a nearside console please let me know.
