New clutch, flywheel and release bearing on TSI

Featured Replies

Been experiencing a minor squealing noise sometimes on clutch take-up for some time now. Live in Cambridge so don't experience hill starts much, but couple of times on steep hills and fully loaded it has been very obvious.

Referred to dealer a couple of times but nothing obvious on visual inspection. Eventually technician suggested could be flywheel but would need to order parts and get car in for few days to investigate.

I took the Octy in on Monday was loaned the Service Manager's Scout. Picked my car up today having had new clutch, flywheel and release bearing fitted. Apparently it was obvious when taken apart that there was a problem with the release bearing.

That's two tyres and clutch + ancilliaries now replaced under warranty now. My car is a 2010 VRS TSi with 27000 on the clock. Bit disappointed that I've had so many problems with a relatively new car, but I cannot fault the service provided by the local dealer Vindis.

Do wish their valet was a bit more careful though - never seen so many swirls after a wash - they may as well have used a wire brush! Over all though very happy to have the car back and fixed without the hassle often associated with these things.

I get a squeal very occasionally when I reverse up step inclines, so when I have to use a bit more revs... I had reported it at my last service, last year, obviously I don't get this a lot, nothing was mentioned afterwards but it has happened since, guess I need to re-report this whilst I still have a warranty! cheers for reminding me.

That sounds very similar to problem I have but no warranty :( ouch even eurocarparts the clutch flywheel are over 500 quid but in Belgium the clutch is 595 euros plus 21.% vat and fly wheel 895 plus vat. Same part as the Sachs eurocarpart and under half the price.
