Seatbelt light

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

Quick question. I noticed my seatbelt light doesn't work. When I start up the car it beeps and flashes about the seatbelt but then that's it. It doesn't notice that I have removed my seatbelt. No warning buzzers or lights come up on the dash.

A friend of mine has an octavia. It's an Octy 1 aswel and got him to test and his doesn't do it either. I'm sure that's not right and it should bring up a light on the dash and warning buzzer?

Ah recommendations? I know it's only something small but to me it's a safety feature as my partner is learning to drive who is originally from South Africa where you do not have to wear seatbelts. So that warning buzzer or light will remind her to put it on, if not for safety, at least to avoid a fine and penalty points.

That is standard behaviour for a mk1 Octavia.

The seat belt warning system is only in operation for about 15 seconds after the car starts.

Really. That's a tad bit silly. I was hoping it was a fuse or loose connection or something.

Off topic but nice husky. Yours? Siberian or malamute?

Octy is old school now....

Siberian - was mine, although she now lives with the ex, as I am away from home too much due to work these days :-(

Mine was the same, it's probably so if you don't wear the seatbelt it doesn't annoy the hell out of you constantly, but then again you could just fasten the seatbelt behind of you to silence it if needs be.

Yeah I've a Sib myself. He's very hyper lol. Sister has a female and she's so much quieter.

Mine was a bitch, coupled with a collie (male), she was pretty well behaved - no house destruction, etc.
