looking for hid kit

Featured Replies

hi i was going to get a hid kit for my fabia 2000 reg but dont no witch one to get any help would be great

Easy & illegal. Pee alot of people off putting them in, also run the risk of fine & points etc...

and of course the new rules in process for a car failing its mot because of them.

Not illegal.. a lot of people say they are but MOT course said they are not illegal they are only illegal if they are factory fitted without self leveling and headlight washers if they was not factory fitted then dont worry but will come illegal in the future think its like end of this year if you have a HID kit you will need headlight washers i think

and thanks for your help in my post :)

They could possibly be an mot failure, but the new rules regarding them is suspended at the moment. My fab has genuine xenon headlamps fitted by me, so no washers and levelling, and last week at the mot he said its a fail, BUT as the rule is suspended he passed it. The rule is any car fitted with xenons MUST have leveling and washers, factory fitted or not and must be alligned properly with the correct beam. Im not having a go, as ive got my xenons still fitted, albeit genuine skoda ones.

tbh i thought exactly that but my brother went up to an MOT course and they told him what i just said but then again im not bothered :) haha if i spent the same as you was telling me when you fitted them xenon's i wouldn't be removing them! haha

It's not the HID kit that fails the mot but the poor beam patten, if put in normal headlights it scatters everywhere.

HID in projector lens = cool and legal

HID in standard H7 halogen lens = uncool and MOT failure.

I failed one last week for some crazy beam pattern with crappy hids fitted. Bloke said he didnt know were fitted but owned from new! So just fitted new normal bulbs for him!

And when he got back home he probably swapped it back to the way it was!

That's life I suppose but I don't approve

thanks guy dont no if im going put some on anyway not sure yet

my advice would be to just get some bright white or 6000k xenon bulbs, i listed a set on my thread the other day cost abour £4.00 and done a brilliant job.
