maxi dot display

Featured Replies

was wondering if anyone else had came across the following problem. went away for the weekend and car was parked up from friday to sunday. i have the maxidot display with bluetooth prep. got into the car this morning and i had "initialising phone" message. no matter what i do with the controls on the mfsw i cant get the message to clear. i did switch off and still no joy, so cant access any of the menus. only thing i did different was to switch off the phones bluetooth (iphone) over the weekend to save battery power and i turned it on whilst engie was running. is there anything i can do to reset it or will it be a visit to the dealers? its a 2012 vrs dsg

thanks

Sometimes turning off the car for just a few minutes doesn't reset things as power is not cut for a while after turning off ignition, so see what happens after the car is left for a couple of hours (I had a locked up columbus where ignition had to be off for a couple of hours to trigger a reset).

Otherwise disconnecting the battery for a few hours might work.

Try unplugging the Bluetooth unit and plug it again. This might reset things.

I take it the bluetooth unit located under drivers seat?

That's the normal position for the OEM bluetooth box yes. You might have remove the carpet cover to get at it but that's not a big job

Thanks for your replies. Got into the car to pull out onto level ground and it's back to normal. Must just have been a glitch in the system-modern technology I suppose

Every now and then mine does similar, everytime I get in teh car it pairs perfectly, no problem, but once in a while, it comes up with initialising phone, and takes a little longer to pair, I presumed it was because it was downloading new contacts etc so maybe as you turned the bluetooth off on your phone it maybe threw it out a little bit and got confused or something?

I did add a few new contacts to the phone over the weekend and it was like it all the way from London to south Wales
