Fabia 1.4MPI 8V - Where is the throttle Body Located?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have being browsing the web and these forums for clues as to why my idle drops whilst cruising. Sometimes it will cut out the engine (not good when driving)

Most people have said to clean out the throttle body. So i whisked myself to Halfords bought some Wynn Cleaner, got my tools out, took off the plastic cover for the engine and then... where is it? From the videos and pictures I've seen, I had an idea what to look out for but my car is even missing this or it's hidden so, I took a picture of my engine. Please would someone kindly point out where this is?

Thanks in advance :)

Look at the gap between the two pairs of injectors and then go directly up (12 o'clock position), it's under the black charcoal canister.

While you're at it from that pic (I'm using my phone so may be wrong) it looks like your either spilling oil on top up or have a leaking rocker gasket, both are easy fixes, the former is about 89p delivered from Amazon for a set of draper funnels and the latter is a 5 min job and under £4 for a new gasket including new rubber spacers from a dealer.

Or...

...The filler cap isn't sitting flush - and so it's venting out the top all over the top of the engine.

If you've got a spare cap under the engine cover - use that instead. It'll prevent a whole multitude of stuff, not the least being oil venting and the unnecessary onset of mayo under the engine cover's poor solution for a filler cap.

Wow great guys. Replacing the Gasket sealant seems a really easy job even for a novice like me. So when we next get a dry day i'll do that. I found this one but no spacers.

In terms of the throttle body, I see it but how can I get to it since that plastic bowl? is covering the top.

There are 3 bolts holding the cover down that you have to remove.

For reference:

a good idea is to pop down tesco and get a load of cheapo toothbrushes!! far easier than using cloths etc

I paid £3.72 for the gasket and the rubber spacers from my dealer if that helps? Ring the parts desk on Tuesday and they should have it in for Wednesday morning.
