Hello,

Could anyone advise me what is the maximum tyre size (width) I can fit on my 17" 7J stock Spiders without rubbing against the suspension?

I also mention that my car has an H&R coilover kit, the clearance between the tyre and the wheel arch being of about 1,5cm.

Also, the clearance between the tyre and the suspension is about 1,3 -1,5 mm with 205/50 R17 tyres on.

Is there anyone with a similar setup who can confirm that I can use 225 mm wide tyres without rubbing against the suspension?

Is the 2-3 mm clearance enough to safely run this tyre size: 225/45 R17?

I need to order them tomorrow, so an answer would be highly appreciated.

Cant see why 225s would rub bud, iirc arnt spiders a et37 or et38

Most comon upgrades are et35 8j rims and they all wear 225s 9/10 times

I had 225/30/20s on coilovers bud and didnt rub anywhere

Im also waiting to put 225/45/17s on my spiders for winter

Its only a 7j rim to so its not like its going to bulk the tyre out

If its a hatch id say 99% you could get the bottom of the car way to close to the floor before a 225 on a spider would give trouble

People will say will ride harder and use more fuel so before that one pops up i shall give you heads up

Hi devil, what is the ET on the 17" Spiders? I have 16" Spiders and they have ET42.... I use 205/55/16 tyres and with Weitec Coilovers(about half way down) at full lock, the wheel scratches the interior arch liner.

I want to go 7x17" ET35 later this year, and i will keep the 205 section tyre.

I ran 225/45/17 on my old MK1 vRS, on the standard wheels with KW V2 coiilovers with no problems at all. 225 is about the max for the 7J OEM spiders 17" wheels.
