Corroded DRL Circuit Board

Featured Replies

Hello,

I need some advice regarding my DRLs on my Fabia VRS please.

I was travelling home last night and the bulb failure light came up on the dashboard. On closer inspection I found the DRL case had cracked. Ive taken it apart tonight and water was swishing around the inside of the DRL. The circuit board has part corroded and but it's not fixable.

Where can I source a replacement without paying through the nose at my local dealer. I'll also need new plastic case for the DRL

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jod

By case do you mean the lens, if not I'd get the dealer to fix it for free, surely if there is no damage to the lights it's not your fault?

Yes. I do mean the lens. The damage to it appears to have been from a stone or something else.

No warranty?

mk2 vrs parts are really hard to come by just now. Superskoda.com might have something if you look on there but expect it to cost a fair bit.

Thanks for the responses. The car is under warranty so it's now booked in at my local dealer for a warranty assessment.

Same happened to mine, it hds cracked in loads of plades but lucky no water got in :) my local dealer told me couldnt get the plastic lense by itself so had to pay £50 for new one and couldnt find anyone selling them online. It was only fog units.

My dealer parts department assistant kept calling them DRL's,

i corrected him and told him on my car they are switched off except when my headlights are on,

they are actually just the 'side lights' on the vRS which are able to be switched on all the time if you so choose & they look like DRL's,

so lets get real on the price of a replacement sidelight.

The Body shop got me one off of a crashed vehicle that was on its way to the breakers/salvage.

Free Gratis, & a result i thought!

I think they are an embarrassment to have on & i am going to change them for lights that look like side lights.

Feed up of people thinking they are Driving Lights switched on normal nights.

They are drl`s which is something the goverment has tried being in thats why soo many cars now have drls. I guess if you dont lyk them theres the switch under the steering wheel to turn them off. I have to say i do lyk them and there alwayz on :)

I do have the stupid things turned off, (After all they are not a legal requirement on our Fabia Mk2's,

hardly down to the UK Government thinking it was a good idea, EU Introduction.)

pity some of those Audis, Mercs DS3's do not have them off as well.

*(& then turn on their proper lights to the front and rear in poor visability)

What was wrong with DRL's like Volvo had for dacades that show a car driving but dont near blind you?

& are not shining/twinkling on days when the sun is splitting the pavement.

I can turn on just my sidelights and they are exactly like your DRL's

& i also have red tail lights shining to the back..

Job done.

I park and put down my indicator and my sidelight becomes a parking light to the front and rear.

Only thing that annoys me about Skoda is those blue looking Sidelights (DRL's)

& the indicator on the same side as the gearstick, but then almost all right hand drive cars have that now.

Breath!!
