Interior lights - should opening rear door activate them?

Recommended Posts

I noticed that after interior lights go out only the driver door shut/open reactivates it. Could anyone please post if it is same in their cars?

Morning V6 -

Just tried this on our 2009 1.9 Roomster and courtesy lights (front and rear) come on when any door is opened.

This is with ignition off or on - but of course they extinguish immediately a door is closed when Ign On rather than going through the delay and soft switch-off that you get when Ign is Off.

Thanks, will double check today.

But what I meant is when you keep doors open for very long time and the interior light eventually goes off,

is it just the drivers door that can bring the lights back on, or any door?

I was working on putting back rear cabin panels after electrics job, so perhaps I did not close the rear door fully, will check.

Interior lights turn off after doors open for a long time to help prevent a flat battery. I suppose the logic of them turning on with open/close of drivers door is that you are going to start the car and put some charge back into the battery.
