A quick question regarding 235/45-17 on RS

Featured Replies

I have been offered a great deal on a set of used OEM Audi wheels in 7,5x17 ET45 with Goodyear 235/45 tires on them. I know the rolling diameter will be slightly off, but I'm just going to use them for a trackday. I like the idea of wider tires and slightly bigger wall on the track. I run 18" Zentih's on daily, but wan't to keep those of the track.

The question: Will it rub on stock suspension?

Regards

Ref the wheel specs you should be fine. You'll have slightly more clearance between the wheel and the suspension, and 6mm more poke (wheel sits further out in the arch).vs the OE wheel.

The physically bigger tyre may cause you a problem however.. ideally you want something that matches the rolling radius of the oe wheel or very closely.

Yeah, I know the wheels are ok. Lots of people running et45 with no isues. The tires are just 1% bigger than the 225/40-18's that's oem on our cars, but its the width at 235 that worries me.

ok. I didn't do the maths on the rolling radius, 1% is nothing. TBH the 235 is only 10mm wider across the tyre vs. OE so I think you'll probably be fine. Take the OE wheels with you in the boot just in case ;)

Jes ye really do put too much taught into things lol just put them on and drive away :)

Ended up with a set of Pegasus 17 's with 225/45 insted. Think they will work out great as trackday wheel. Some scratches on them so considering painting them black.
