40000 mile service

Featured Replies

Hi y'all

Once again I'd like to report exceptional service from a Skoda garage.

I'd booked the Yeti in a month ago for service and re-fitting the summers, but had to cancel at the last moment for personal reasons. No probs they said, and then this time fitted me in at short notice and at a specific time to suit.

When I arrived they were ready for me and in the check-in process I asked for two extra issues to be looked into. First was a terrific vibration at around 55 to 60 (and not, this time, caused by build up of encrusted dung and bits of errant collie teeth), and the service manager knew all about the possibility of flywheel hassles, and impressed me with his ability to set up investigations. The second issue concerned the absolute requirement or otherwise of having new brake fluid installed as I was hoping to be able to keep the Bank Manager as happy as possible!

He then rang me a bit later to confirm both that the brake fuid was needed, and also to give me a complete breakdown of what it was all going to cost, prior to them getting stuck in. He warned me that there would be a small charge for fitting the two tyres I had supplied for them to fit, and when I chuckled at the price commenting that surely they'd be able to soften the blow for me just a bit, he grinned down the phone and promised that he'd use the faintest pencil he could find to log the work on the sheet.

He then gave a specific time when I'd be able to collect the Yeti, said that there'd be a large coffee and special choccy biccies ready for me to fortify me on my journey home.

All in all a delight to deal with, and it reinforces my personal decision to use Sinclair Skoda, 46 miles from home. And although we know they won the Dealer of the Year last year, I'd hope that every Dealer would aspire to such decent levels of customer service and satisfaction.

Cheers

G

Glad to hear you have had a great experience Freshacre

Don't forget to write this up in the Skoda Dealers section here so non Yeti owners can hear about your experience.

Good idea! I'm like quite a few Yeti foamites in that just about the only place I read or post is in the Yeti space, because that is where my chief interest lies, so it's good to get a reminder occasionally.

I agree, too, that positive dealer experiences if reported properly can be extremely helpful to others in the Skoda community.

Thanks, Mike, for that useful prompt. It's appreciated.

I think that a lot of the reason many of us don't stray off the Yeti bit is because, by and large, it is helpful, friendly, humourous, supportive, and often a Bluddy Good Read!!

Huh. Wrong again. Doh. Will I ever learn.

Wibble wobble rattle and bang of the whole car, which made my tambourine that is stored in the shopping basket in the boot rattle like the New Seekers, was indeed caused - not by a disintegrating flywheel - but by a great big encrusted dollop of dried out mud, crud and welsh farm collie fur that had freeze dried itself onto the inside of the alloys and welded itself into position. I suppose its a bit like the wattle and dob, hair and horse manure that the middle ages farmers built houses with.
