every couple of months i notice that my router has unlocked its self? why does this keep happening?

Do you mean the security gets disabled or the admin password gets removed?

What router and what security? If isp provided have you reset the admin password and removed any unknown devices?

Does your router forget any other settings, does the memory loss happen after a power down? How old old is the router and does it have a battery on the motherboard to remember settings and keep the time correct when powered down?

Sorry for the late reply, its a linksey router and avg security, it just keeps loosing the pad lock at the side so I have to go through the router settings to get it back on

Have you changed the router's admin userid and password from the defaults? Are you using WPA-PSK or any more modern wireless security or just WEP?
