fitting a voltage regulator......is there an easy way?

Hi i went to fit a voltage regulator today on my T reg felicia,i took the old one off no problems,whilst trying to get the new one in,one of the bushes fell off inside the alternator,i managed to retrieve this, but not the spring. :devil:

Is there an easy of fitting these??

yea fit a new alternator instead lol. the brush should not be able to come off the reg it should have a braid thru the centre of the spring

It did have a braid on thru the centre of the spring,thats why i cant understand why it came off??
