Adding A/C to 2000 Octavia(1V) Ambiente

Featured Replies

Hi,

my Ocatvia doesn't have air conditioning and I want to have it installed.

Can anyone give me pointers to where I can find a kit and how much would it cost me, including the instalation.

The Portuguese Skoda told me it doesn't fit A/C to already assembled cars...

I live in Portugal but ordering the parts abroad and have them installed here is a option.

As a side note: this is really a Ambiente, I have the official docs and registration(I guess for a while the Ambiente sold here didn't had A/C).

Thanks,

Jorge

Welcome to Briskoda. :) Aftermarket kits are available, as I have just found out here. The site doesn't say what make the kits are, though, nor what fitting would cost. This firm may also be able to advise you on availability and price.

Hi,

thank you very much for the prompt answer.

I believe the price in the first link includes fitting. I'll be waiting for a quote from the 2nd company.

I finaly got a e-mail reply from Skoda and it's not the same I was told on the phone. They gave me a price of 1754 Euros (1,194.00 GBP)

inc. VAT and fitting for the manual A/C. For now they say the Climatronic is not supplied for aftermarket.

I feel a bit hesitant in spending this amount on a 5 year old car, but I'm very satisfied with my 1.6L/40,000 miles Octavia and with a baby arriving next year it becomes almost essential with the weather we have here

It sounds like it might be cheaper to change the car for one wth it fitted as standard which is a shame

DON'T do this. I had a kit fitted to a Saxo, it ruined the car. There is too much hacking about to get the kits in, they are low quality and confuse the hell out of the ECU! Seriously, sell the car and buy one with the climatronic.
