Fabia VRS Cambelt Torsion Value

Featured Replies

Ok , after having a new timing belt fitted to my 04 plate PD130 ASZ by an independant garage the car did not seem the same slightly less power lower mpg. I took it back to them twice only to be told the timing is fine although they admitted they could not communicate with the ecu. Not happy with this i took it to my local main dealer who had a quick look and comifirmed the timing was incorrect. Back to independant garage they fitted a new belt and pump which apparently was leaking, I was told it was changed with the cambelt originaly. Assuring me timing was spot on again although they could not communicate with ecu i drove off again. Well I was still not convinced, So back to dealers they found my aftermaket stereo to be the problem communicating with my ecu. They fixed the dreaded K-line problem and communication has been restored. They then gave it a quick vagcom scan for error codes which returned no errors. After a quick road test they said its fine. Well that is the problem Skoda have not rechecked the timing as they want silly money to check it again. Does the Cambelt Torsion value in this article apply to my engine?: http://www.myturbodi...st-Idle-TDI.htm . The torsion value has not been checked by the independant garage or skoda. I talked to skoda about this and the 'tec' told me he has never had to check or adjust this value on vagcom adding this is why i should get it done at main dealer. The only reason it was done at the indi garage was because they said they would not MOT it without changing it, it was due. Can the timing be fine tuned on VRS ASZ engine? , does it need to be after changing the belt and kit?. How do i know my timing is not slightly advanced or retarded when most garages iv spoken to are mystified when i mention belt Torsion value?. I dont want to take it back to the main dealer now they charge £99 a hour. I am getting fed up being told 'But it's not a VW' by garges. Any advice appreciated.

I woudn't get hung up on that article as you have a new belt ---if it's been fitted right and TENSIONED properly the ecu should take care of the rest if you can find someone local with vag-com they could easily take a look at the timing -----from memory it should read 0 but up to +or- six is permissable
