1950's Motor Show Guides....with Skoda.

Featured Replies

I've just obtained some old Earls Court Motor Show guides from 1954 to 1959, these are b & w and about the size of a large magazine with 4 cars on each page along with their tech specs and prices.

The only Skoda to feature from 1954 to 1958 is the 1100 which is described as:

"Smart new baby from behind the Iron Curtain.." and apparently "if your windscreen is smashed far from a spare parts depot just push out the rear window & fix it in the front - they're exactly the same size and shape" This seems like a great idea and maybe modern Skodas should use it.....?

This splendid vehicle would have cost you £841....falling to £788 by 1958

The last year that I have; 1959 includes the Skoda Felicia with an 1100cc engine tuned to give 53bhp & yours for £744.

As a comparison, a Morris 1000 Traveller was £669.

Oh and if you have got access to a time machine a Merc 300 SL Gullwing was listed at £4,651 in 1956 & a Ferrari 250 GT £5951 in 1959.....

The Merc and Ferrari are relevantly more affordable now then!
