Fuel Gauge not registering

Featured Replies

My fuel gauge warning light came on with 40 miles left on the clock. Just put 10 quids worth of petrol in and it hasnt budged. I know if i was to have put only a fiver in it wouldn't have registered but should have gone up enough to knock the warning off. Anyone any idea please, I'm thinking a diagnostic problem but dont want to shell out for the test if its something else

well in old "money" it's approx 1.6 galls--I'd put another£10 and maybe then start worrying :-)

From the manual

The fuel tank has a capacity of about 45 litres. The warning symbol ? in the instrument cluster lights up when the pointer reaches the reserve marking. There are now about 7 litres of fuel remaining in the tank.""

As above, £10 doesn't buy you much in the way of fuel now, shove another £10 in and the light will go out, brim the tank and it'll show full. Fuel senders aren't infallible or always accurate but they are reasonably reliable.
